Things to Enjoy--Drinks

There are certain things--foods, drinks, smells that provide comfort. Perhaps they evoke a child hood memory, or bring back a favorite time, a vacation, a person, a special day or event. We have tried to compile a list of non-alcoholic drinks which would evoke a positive memory for many people.

There are items from a wide variety of places and choices, in the hopes that most people will find something that helps to cheer them up.

In recognizing that central to many culture centers is the interaction and dynamic with food, eating and drinking we have tried to be conscious of the role that food can play in to the point that eating disorders and alcoholism exist and are real issues. We have avoided alcoholic beverages for health reasons.

Drinks to enjoy

Winter Drinks

Coffee - caffeinated (unless trying to relax), decaffeinated, latte, mocha, cappuccino, espresso

Teas - Herbals, Green Teas, Tea blends, Chamomile

Hot Chocolate - (low calorie)

Hot Cider - with a cinnamon stick

Hot mulled cider - with mulling spices - cloves, orange peel, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice

Starbucks had an incredible mulling spice combination this Christmas Season...Cinnamon, cloves, orange peel, nutmeg, allspice, cardamom
Hot lemonade and honey (a favorite of mine when sick)

Hot soup

Summer Drinks (anything over ice)

Mineral water, seltzer with a twist - of lime, lemon, orange...anything citrus to add a zip

Mineral water in tall fluted (champagne) glasses or plastic (this always makes it seem like a special occasion. Adding roses for an olfactory scent, helps enhance the experience)

Iced Coffee

Iced Sun Tea (leave tea bags out in the sun)

Juices (especially Hawaiian) mixed with mineral water (great combination plus it cuts down on the calories)

Apple juice over ice

Milk over ice

Sparkling Apple Cider

Sparkling Cranberry Cider

Fresh squeezed lemonade, orange juice, grapefruit juice
