Quotes on Transition, Transformation & Surviving
Grief is an ancient, universal
power that links all human beings together.
Molly Fumia
Sometimes, it seems that all you need is the
right quote, poem or inspirational message at the right moment to help
provide perspective, insight and aid in surviving a loss or crisis. In
dealing with the grief response following a loss or crisis, it is often
helpful to read the words from others who have been there and survived.
Reading words written centuries ago or contemporary works that capture
the essence of the emotions that I have felt helps to reinforce the knowledge
that I am not alone in my experience of grief or feelings of desolation.
When it seems
that our sorrow is too great to be borne,
let us think of the great
family of the heavy-hearted
into which our grief
has given us entrance, and inevitably,
we will feel about us
their arms, their sympathy, their understanding.
Helen Keller
Words in their many different forms are an
effective way of providing a voice for the feelings of a grieving heart.
They help the grieving to realize that others have experienced these intense
emotions, lived through them, been changed by them, but have survived.
Words, stories, quotations, poems, prayers, blessings and lyrics can provide
a source of solace, hope, comfort and reassurance—emotions much needed
during the grieving process.
