Fair Use
An original purpose of the Internet was to allow information to be freely accessible to the general public. As an educational web resource created to provide information and resources on grief and loss, and as a research tool for evaluating the effects of a website on web-education, the Journey of Hearts website is following the principle of "Fair Use" for the use of quotations, excerpts from stories, articles, poems and lyrics.

The "fair use" of a copyrighted work, including use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. Copyright owners are, by law, deemed to consent to fair use of their works by others.

Some of the inspirational resources and quotes on the Internet or in print are published without an author or as anonymous. We have and will be carefully assessing on a resource by resource basis the value of materials that is sent to us to include on the site.

Before including information on the Journey of Hearts site, we search for the origins of the resource and identify the original author and atrtribute appropriately. When we are unable to find an author, especially when the material is determined to be particularly useful for visitors to this site, then "author unknown" or "anonymous" is used. We do not claim any copyright for stories or poems or any other written works on this site that we have not written.

Credits
The organization and infrastructure for the redesign of the Journey of Hearts site is being provided by Zope.org. Zope is an Open Source web application server that enables the creation and management of dynamic web-based applications. 

The pages for this site are initially coded using the freely available Netscape Composer (part of the Nescape Communicator). The fine tuning is done by hand using Notepad or WordPad.

Many of the photography, images and graphics from this site have been taken or created by Kirsti A. Dyer, MD, MS, using Corel Photo-Paint and Microsoft Paint. Other images, graphics and photographs have been created using the Corel Photo-Paint collection, photos and clipart, © 1988-1997 Corel Corporation in compliance with their copyright restrictions. Additional images, graphics and photographs have been created using Photo Gallery 5,000 Volume 1 and 2 by Media Graphics © 1997 Media Graphics International. The resources in the Photo Gallery have been released for unlimited use on the Internet.
